Arkansas lawmakers have passed a bill aimed at better fighting prostate cancer in the natural state.

In arkansas, more men die of prostate cancer, than women die of breast cancer.

Act 75 requires health benefit plans to provide prostate cancer screening for men, 40 years old and over.

Since1999, there has been a steady decrease in deaths from prostate cancer in Arkansas , but the Arkansas Central Cancer Registry Data indicates that there has been a steady increase in the number of new cases.

The bill, filed by Representative Fred Allen of Little Rock passed through the Arkansas Senate and House earlier this month and was signed into law by Governor Mike Beebe February 5th.
